Doctor Doom attempts to manipulate Spider-Man into defeating the Fantastic Four. When Spider-Man refuses, Doom captures him—but a prank by Flash Thompson, who dresses as Spider-Man, causes Doom to mistake Flash for the hero. Spider-Man must then rescue his friend. First appearance of Doom using a robot substitute.
